FAQs
-
A Board & Train program means your dog stays with Silicon Valley Dog Training while receiving structured, daily training in real-world environments. We train around real distractions, not just in controlled settings, so your dog learns to listen anywhere, not just at home. We focus on obedience, behavior modification, and practical manners, then teach you how to maintain those results in everyday life.
-
Programs typically last 2–4 weeks, depending on your dog’s age, history, temperament, and training goals. After reviewing your intake form and completing a free in-person consultation, we’ll recommend the best option for your dog.
-
We work with all breeds, ages, and temperaments. This includes high-energy dogs, stubborn dogs, and reactive dogs. If your dog has a bite history or serious behavioral concerns, we’ll review everything upfront to ensure safety and realistic expectations.
-
Yes. We regularly work with dogs that are reactive toward people, dogs, or their environment. Our balanced approach focuses on clear communication, structure, confidence-building, and accountability while prioritizing safety and long-term improvement.
-
If I have availablility, I do! However, due to capacity constraints, I typically only offer boarding to graduate dogs of the program. Feel free to call, text, or email me to check my availability.

We use a balanced training approach, combining motivation, structure, and accountability. This may include food rewards, leash guidance, and tools when appropriate. Every dog is trained as an individual, and all tools are introduced carefully and humanely.
-
Yes, we have programs that can get your dog completely off-leash. Training focuses on recall, responsiveness, and real world distractions, with clear guidance to help you maintain results long term.
-
We train dogs in multiple real life environments and around everyday distractions so the training transfers beyond quiet or controlled settings. This helps ensure your dog listens reliably on walks, outings, and in daily life, not just during training.
-
Owner follow through is essential. You’ll receive a structured go-home lesson, clear handling instructions, and guidance on daily routines so results last long after the program ends.
-
Yes. All programs include lifetime support via email, phone, and text so you always have guidance long after training is complete.
-
Your dog stays in my home, not a kennel. Dogs live in a safe, structured household environment where they receive daily training, exercise, rest, and supervision. They are treated like family while still being held to clear rules and structure, this balance helps training transfer seamlessly to real life.
-
Yes. You’ll receive regular updates so you can track progress and see what your dog is learning.
-
You’ll typically provide your dog’s food and any medications. A full checklist will be sent after booking.
-
Safety always comes first. In rare cases, if a dog is unsafe to handle or the goals aren’t realistic within the program timeframe, we may decline or refer out.
